ADMINISTRATION
Stategic Planning
- Overall coordination of strategic planning activities for the Faculty, including development of a new Faculty of Education Strategic Plan (2009).
- Creation of a Strategic Planning Advisory Council within the Faculty.
- Creation of five working groups for setting priorities and developing work plans for the Faculty based on the new strategic plan. (Research & scholarship, Leadership & community, Identity & values, Work-life balance, Diversity & belonging).
Academic Leadership and Program Development
- Support for innovative program development across faculty units. (ED-D 101, Certificate in Special Education, C&I Certificate Programs, Ph.D. in Kinesiology).
- Development of an annual Faculty Academic Plan for VPac.
- Revised Elementary & Secondary B.Eds.
- New Diploma and B.Ed. in Indigenous Language and Culture.
- Establishment of Diploma status for Post Degree Professional Program graduates.
- Establishment of four mobile computing labs for technology integration in Faculty teaching.
Development and Outreach
- Doubled activity in the area of fund-raising from donors and prospects, with a concomitant increase in funds generated ($1M generated 2009/10).
- Established Centre for Outreach Education (CORE) from a donor bequest to support Faculty outreach to children and families in need of educational services.
Personnel and Hiring
- Established communications officer in the Faculty to support communications and recruitment activities.
- Established research support position to assist faculty members with research grant administration.
- Established Research Community Coordinator to support development of Faculty research initiatives.
- Development of an annual academic Staffing Plan for VPac.
- Oversee and negotiate hiring of fifteen tenure track faculty members.
- Liaise with Human Resources and the Faculty Association to address human resource and grievance issues.
- General liaison with Facilities Management and Faculty administrative team for KIP Project building renovations.
