PARTERRE & PRONE POSITIONS

  1. Demonstrate parterre position and have the students try.
  2. Demonstrate control position in parterre and have students try.
    • Cues for parterre control: Squat, tight to partner's side, hands on partner's back.
    • Partner in parterre position tries to move away from partner in control position.
  3. Demonstrate prone position and then students try.
  4. Demonstrate control position for prone and students try.

 

Prone Position Defence

Step One:
Defensive wrestler wants to be in the prone position.

 

Step Two:
The defence should concentrate their power on the area being attacked.

 

Step Three:
This applies for attacks to the upper and lower body.
An effective defensive reaction to an attack on the lower body is to focus their power in the area being attacked by sitting up into the referees position.

 

Step Four:
From the prone position the wrestler wants to be able to move and shift weight to defend against the various hooks and handles.
