A Peer-Guided Exercise Program for Youth with Intellectual Disability
This project is investigating the impact of "Team Up for Fitness" on exercise habits of youth with and without intellectual disability. This project is based in Boston under the direction of Dr Heidi Stanish (UMass Boston) and funded by the Deborah Munroe Noonan Memorial Fund.
Validation of the Previous Day Physical Activity Recall for use with Persons with Intellectual Disability
A limiting factor in health promotion efforts among adults with intellectual disability is a lack of valid and reliable instruments, specifically questionnaires, to conduct large scale studies and surveillance of physical activity among adults with intellectual disability. The aim of this study is to evaluate the criterion-related validity and reliability of the Previous Day Physical Activity Recall (PDPAR) as a measure of activity in this population. This is a multi-site project, with data collection in Indiana (Dr Georgia Frey) and in British Columbia (Dr Viviene Temple). This project is funded by the Research Consortium of AAHPERD.
Literacy, Education, Activity and Play (LEAP BC)
The aim of these projects is to enhance the abilities of childcare providers and families to provide activities that promote the development of fundamental movement and literacy skills and opportunities for physical activity, healthy eating, and play.
HOP: Healthy Opportunities for Preschoolers
