Temperate Rainforests
The ancient temperate
rainforests of British Columbia extend 900 kilometers along BC's
coastline. These forests have taken some ten thousand years to evolve
and can contain trees up to 2000 years old. The Pacific Northwest is
the most densley forested region of North America, and contains such
trees as hemlock, cedar, spruce and fir. Rainfall is 2.5 to 4 meters
each year. That's well over your height! Because of this climate
evergreens can grow quickly.
