In a guided imagery activity, students should completely relax in a comfortable position and close their eyes. Students should be reminded that they are in control of the activity. Feel free to modify the script to fit your class and students experience.
In this activity, students will explore a community in the Pacific Northwest where precipitation is frequent and water is rarely rationed. This is in contrast to the guided imagery found under Not Enough Water, where water is a precious resource.

It is summer time. You can feel a warm breeze on your face and smell the grass being cut next door. There is the sound of the lawnmower and childrens' cries. You are excited because your mother has allowed you to turn on the sprinkler and run through it. You and your friends take turns, enjoying the shocking cold of the water compared to your warm skin. When you are tired of this, you go inside and have a long drink of iced tea. The cool drink spills down your throat and is very refreshing.
Next, you leave the house and walk to the community swimming pool. You have a lot of fun jumping in and out of the pool and swimming to the bottom of the deep end. When it is time to go home, you have a long shower before getting dressed.
Think over how many times you have used water. Brushing your teeth, showering, playing in the sprinkler and swimming in the pool. Think about other ways you have used water. When you are ready, open your eyes and join your classmates.
Some Discussion Questions:
-How did it feel in the sprinkler, pool, shower?
-What did you smell, taste,hear?
-Were all your water needs vital ?
-What other water uses did you think off?
-Why could you use all this water?
